How it works

Your keys, your bucket, your control
Infinite Storage never sees your files unencrypted, and your archive lives in cloud storage you own, not a server we run.
- AES-256-GCM + RSA encryption. Every file is encrypted before it leaves your Mac, through an encrypted JuiceFS volume.

Frequently asked questions
What counts as "idle"?
A project in ~/Sites that hasn't had a file change in a while. You control the threshold, and nothing archives without files first being verified byte-identical against the original.
Where do my files actually live?
In a Cloudflare R2 bucket in your own Cloudflare account, accessed through an encrypted JuiceFS volume. Infinite Storage never runs its own storage servers for your data.
How do I get a project back?
One command, or one click in the menu bar. The restored project lands back on disk exactly as it was archived.
What if I delete something by mistake?
Deleted files go to a 7-day trash before they're gone for good, and metadata is backed up nightly so recovery doesn't depend on a single machine.
Who can read my files?
Files are encrypted with AES-256-GCM and RSA before they leave your Mac. The key is escrowed in your own 1Password vault — Infinite Storage doesn't hold a copy.
Does this replace Time Machine or backups?
No. Infinite Storage archives idle projects to free up disk space, it isn't a backup product. Keep your regular backup strategy in place.
